Ch. 212 - Don't Panic -- I'm Coming to Feed You All Right Now

The Mutant Thunderbird activated every skill it had and charged headlong into the corridor. The two riders' vision blurred, and in an instant, they arrived in an entirely different space.

A wave of scorching heat slammed into their faces. The air was bone-dry and violently uncomfortable, laced with an acrid, eye-watering sting.

They had no time to adjust. The Mutant Thunderbird spread its wings and shot skyward immediately.

ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!

In that split second, countless horrifying howls intertwined and erupted toward the heavens, enough to send a chill down anyone's spine.

Only then did Chen Shu begin taking in his surroundings.

It really is a volcanic-type Alternate Dimension!

Barren, bald-capped peaks stretched endlessly in every direction, covered only by sparse patches of fire-attribute vegetation.

Scorching heat poured ceaselessly from the mouths of the craters, and even the sky itself seemed to glow a deep, molten red.

Below them, countless fierce beasts howled at the sky, jaws wide open, desperate to swallow the two riders and their bird alive.

"Holy shit! This many fierce beasts?!"

Chen Shu immediately pulled out the grey vial, eyes glinting with barely restrained eagerness...

"No! We're too close to the corridor entrance — the blast will hit Blue Star, and we might not even make it out ourselves!"

Fang Si raised her hand at once, stopping the "demolition prodigy" in his tracks.

Chen Shu nodded. "I completely agree!"

He agreed that fast?

Fang Si raised an eyebrow. Chen Shu's gaze had already drifted toward the distance, his face radiating a greedy glow — he was practically drooling...

"Hm?"

She followed his line of sight. Clusters of precious fire-attribute medicinal herbs grew on the distant peaks.

"Fire Spirit Flowers, Blazing Fire Fruits, Scorching Flame Vines..."

Chen Shu's eyes were gleaming. His whole body was shaking slightly with excitement.

"You can fucking see them from THIS far?! And identify every single one?!"

Fang Si's eyes went wide. This bastard is way too ridiculous...

ROAR!

A massive fire-red tail came whipping toward them without warning.

The Mutant Thunderbird barely dodged it in time, fear flashing in its eyes.

Both riders' hearts lurched. They looked down at the beast horde below in unison.

A colossal lizard stared up at them — its enormous body sheathed entirely in crimson-red scales, its eyes full of cold indifference and savage ferocity.

"Silver Lord! Run first — out of respect!" [1]

Chen Shu slapped the Mutant Thunderbird's back, and the two of them shot toward the depths of the Alternate Dimension.

ROAR!

The Giant Lizard below gave chase without hesitation. Its massive body bulldozed through countless beasts, barreling after the Thunderbird at full speed.

The surrounding beasts were furious but didn't dare say a word. All they could do was watch the Giant Lizard rampage through like it owned the place...

"The fuck? You're a reptile and you dare chase us?"

Chen Shu raised an eyebrow. Without even needing a command from him, the Mutant Thunderbird whipped out its signature move.

Ptui!

A glob of saliva dropped straight down and landed squarely on the Giant Lizard's head.

At the same time, the Mutant Thunderbird wagged its butt, its little heart swelling with pride. It had never dreamed it could provoke a Silver Lord.

Chen Shu flashed a grin. "Ha! Let it chase. Can't beat you, but we can sure as hell disgust you to death!"

But the very next moment, both their expressions changed. The Thunderbird's body shuddered too.

The Giant Lizard's face twisted with fury. The scales on its back split apart, blazing with the radiance of flames.

BOOM BOOM BOOM!

In an instant, its countless scales erupted, firing a barrage of fireballs like a goddamn machine gun, spraying directly at the Thunderbird.

"What the fuck?! Are you cheating?! What kind of bullshit is this?!"

The Mutant Thunderbird screeched and tore forward at full speed.

But the Giant Lizard Lord matched it stride for stride, its thick, powerful limbs churning beneath it — keeping pace completely.

With fireballs about to rain down on them, Chen Shu had to admit — he was a little panicked...

"Fly higher, you dumbass!"

The Thunderbird got the message and climbed higher.

But the Giant Lizard's fireballs climbed with them.

"Your new skill! Use it now!"

At Chen Shu's shout, the Thunderbird's eyes blazed with skill energy.

Every single one of its feathers crackled with lightning. It had truly become a Thunderbird in every sense of the word.

SCREEEECH!

In an instant, the Thunderbird's speed exploded. It left everything behind in a trail of dust.

"Holy shit! We're hauling ass!"

Chen Shu and Fang Si clung desperately to the feathers on its back, hanging on for dear life.

ROAR!

The Giant Lizard bellowed, eyes burning with frustration and fury. It couldn't keep up anymore.

Its massive tail lashed out and instantly smashed several Black Iron-rank beasts to pieces.

Classic misdirected rage — taking it out on the weak because it couldn't catch the strong.

"Holy crap, that was close! Silver Lords are that insane? That thing was literally carrying a Gatling gun on its back!"

Chen Shu let out a temporary sigh of relief. His eyes immediately locked onto the herbs growing on the nearby peaks.

"Jackpot! Xiao Lei, quick — one herb and I'll reward you with a lady bird!"

The Mutant Thunderbird's spirit soared. It let out an excited screech.

The two of them began stripping herbs from every peak they passed, and Chen Shu stuffed them all into urea bags.

Chen Shu and the Mutant Thunderbird howled like primitives, plundering resources from peak to peak like a raiding party.

In no time, five urea bags were stuffed full and strapped to the Thunderbird's back.

Then Chen Shu pulled out another bag.

Fang Si stared. How many damn urea bags does this bastard have?!

"Xiao Lei, fly deeper! There's gotta be better stuff further in!"

Chen Shu's heart was racing with excitement. This was literally gold scattered across the ground!

The Mutant Thunderbird was fast even without its new skill — still faster than most Black Iron-rank beasts.

In the blink of an eye, the previously tranquil Alternate Dimension had been thrown into utter chaos.

Behind the Thunderbird's rear end, an endless wave of beasts surged forward — dense, packed, a living tidal flood.

Anyone with weak nerves would have pissed themselves on the spot.

But Chen Shu was cool as a cucumber, picking herbs without missing a beat.

Three more urea bags got filled to the brim — all fire-attribute herbs, each individual stalk worth hundreds of thousands of yuan at minimum.

Chen Shu's eyes glowed with greed. "Go deeper. There's definitely good stuff further in!"

"Stop fucking flying! Do what we came here to do!"

Fang Si snapped out of it. If they kept screwing around, things were going to go sideways.

"Sis Fang Si, opportunity lost doesn't come back!"

Chen Shu's face was brimming with confidence. "Relax — when the Nanjiang Bandit arrives, what beast wouldn't back off 90 li?"

The moment those words left his mouth — everything changed.

A terrifying flame-wreathed claw slashed toward them out of nowhere.

The Mutant Thunderbird beat both wings hard and just barely dodged it.

"There's actually beasts that aren't afraid to die?"

Chen Shu looked down. A panther covered head to tail in living flame roared at the sky below, its terrifying aura crashing over them like a wave.

ROAR!

From another direction, a twin-headed hound blazed crimson-red like a furnace, howling.

Skills lit up. Another rain of fire came pouring down.

The Mutant Thunderbird trembled. It looked steady as a rock on the outside, but on the inside, it was freaking the hell out.

A Silver Lord's skills — it couldn't take a single one.

ROAR!

Even further away, an enormous ape towered above the landscape — its entire body fire-red, blazing flame halos orbiting around it, its presence equally overwhelming.

"Holy fucking shit! Three Silver Lords?!"

Chen Shu gulped. He had a sinking feeling things had gotten out of hand.

He'd just said "what beast wouldn't back off 90 li" — and immediately three showed up.

The face-slap came as fast as a tornado! [2]

ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!

At the same time, because the Thunderbird had stopped, the horde that had been chasing them finally caught up.

Below, countless beasts opened their jaws wide, drool dripping from their mouths, looking absolutely ravenous.

But at this distance — far enough now — a blast could destroy the Space Corridor without causing major damage to Blue Star.

Chen Shu looked down at the surrounded, drooling horde, and grinned.

"Don't panic! I'm coming to feed you all right now!!"

[1] 先跑为敬 (xiān pǎo wéi jìng): Parody of the Chinese drinking toast formula 先干为敬 ("I'll down mine first, as a sign of respect"), where the person proposing the toast drains their glass first to show sincerity. Chen Shu swaps 干 (drink/down it) with 跑 (run), producing "Run first -- out of respect!" -- treating fleeing from a Silver Lord with the same ceremonial politeness as raising a glass at a banquet.

[2] 打脸来的太快就像龙卷风 (da lian lai de tai kuai jiu xiang long juan feng): Parody of the opening line of Jay Chou's 2003 hit "Tornado" (龙卷风): "爱你爱的太深就像龙卷风" ("Loving you too deeply is like a tornado"). The internet mutation substitutes "loving you too deeply" with whatever karmic punishment just landed. Here: "The face-slap came as fast as a tornado" -- Chen Shu's grandiose boast ("no beast would dare face me") is immediately punished by three Silver Lords appearing simultaneously.
